Those 2 species you keep mainly in a tank by themselves and they are very smart preadators. However, most reef hobbtists woun't invest in one unless they are well advanced in the hobby. The risk of loosing one is way to much. A much easier one to keep in a species tank is the Peacock Mantis Shrimp, is thought to be THE most intellegent of the inverts has the best vision and actually make for awesome pets. HOWEVER, one species is nicknamed "thumb-splitters" as the kill their prey by flicking their front legs at the fish or crab with the force of a .22 caliber round. SO, you need a tank made of Acrylic of a min of 1"...glass may get cracked.

yes s2min, i've heard of the crabs that can flick as hard as a bullet. it is aamazing isnt it? it is something i tell evolutionist. god has the most amazing designs.

wow, just watched the video of the mantis shrimp s2min and I gotta say thats amazing. imagine if one of those things hit you. that would hurt.

actually we're NOT on that topic. It's eels and other saltwater crits.

..and i find that post on christianity pictularally offensive. You need to apologize...and i need to know what EXACTLY your apologizing for and to know you really, really mean it. :twisted:

Yea, as fast a 22, man that is crazy. I want to check out more videos of that thing in action. :lol:

did you notice to coloration? just like a peacok lol. There is a vid on utube of this dude with one that's 9". The shrimp lets the guy pick him up and hold it like a pet.
