Annihilation Offensive Guide 2012

Post by S_hift »

Some of us get our enjoyment in Annihilation from destroying the enemies base. Here is how you can accomplish that. :ugeek:

Offense is very vital to the teams success. I have won many matches with minimal defense while maintaining a rugged offense. Like the old saying goes "The best defense is a good offense" If the enemy has no generators, then they cannot set defense.

There are a few strategies and things to consider while going offense.

1. Is there anyone defending at the moment? Are they doing well? How much support do they have. This goes for offense and defense. By support this means is there anyone covering them. This goes for offense as well. If there is someone destroying turrets and deployables, then you should cover them so they can finish their job.

2. The Warrior is actually one of the strongest armors. Anyone with decent handling skills of the warrior can easily defeat any obstacle. Don't feel timid in this armor. You are just as expendable as the next person. You will respawn shortly. Remember points do have an impact on the enemies moral, but it is the ultimate outcome of the match that decides the victors.

3. If you are attacking, sometimes it is best not to worry about that angel flying around or that far away target. Continue to what you were doing and finish it. Chances are the people leaving the base will take care of the target. Give warnings about incoming enemies. This helps the Friendly base defender get an idea of were to look for the enemy.

4. Do not camp. Campers die easily. When you destroy a defensive item, or kill an enemy it is always the best choice to move somewhere else to avoid detection.

5. find the most effective method of stripping down defense. Any armor has its strength and weakness in offense. Titans can safely destroy things from a distance with the particle beam, but are easily exposed to detection. Chameleon assassins can destroy the base from within and avoid detection rather easily, however if they are caught it is very easy to kill them. Necromancers can ghost through just about any base structure and grab the flag, their armor is relatively strong for its armor size. It takes a lot of practice to get good with this armor. The troll is an extremely versatile armor. A troll with a shield pack can easily rip apart defense with the vulcan and flame thrower. Tanks are good for keeping the enemies moral low. Their grenades can spam into a base and cause extreme grief and discomfort.

6. The plasma rifle. This gun can kill lasers in single walled boxes. Its a good weapon to carry with certain loadouts.

7. Builders can pitchfork the enemies defenses. Sometimes you can even trick the enemy into killing their own deployable by using their Blastwalls or force fields as a shield. This is actually quite easy to do, not so easy if the enemies defense is robust and sturdy.

8. angels can hold the flag high up in the sky if the match becomes a stalemate. Sometimes "turtling" isn't the best choice. A chameleon assassin can easily return the flag by sneaking within and stabbing the flag holder in the back. Sometimes, if you know that the enemy doesn't have any defense up but your team does. And they are still "turtling", Simply use their own flag as bait. In most cases they will desperately try to capture the flag. Just wait by their flag and kill the carrier before they capture it. Its o.k if they get one point, its better if they don't though...

9. offensive turrets (not featured in Br Annihilation). In certain mods of Annihilation, you can set a nuclear turret and destroy the enemies deployables with the builders laptop or from a command station. In other words you can control the turret yourself from a safe distance. This was taken out because someone didn't understand how to effectively set defense and spot a farmed turret.

10. Objectives are vital to your teams success. If there is an objective switch that controls a territory and radar it is with the teams best interest to maintain control of that objective. The radars will allow your teammates to see farther than the enemy. This is one of the biggest advantages.

11. In maps like broadside were the flag is inside of the base. Sometimes an enemy will set the portable generator close to the flag. This is a common n00b mistake. If you hear the humming of the generator in the flag room, chances are its there. Try to kill two birds with one stone. Kill the generator first. Then get the flag. It will do your team no good if you just got the flag. The enemy will just defend it accordingly. In doing this you can keep them from setting anything else and potentially get the flag capture. The generator should always be the primary objective.

12. Get in their heads. This is a game. You are allowed to trash talk to your enemy. You are allowed to locally taunt them after you kill them. Do not hesitate to tell them how much they suck. Cause them grief. Make their hands sweat and shake. Make them nervous. From the very second the clock starts, it means war. You do anything and everything to destroy the enemy. Tell them how much of a n00b they are. Chances are if they are offended by the word, then they are in fact a n00b.

13. Do not switch teams unless there is no one left on the opposing force. If they cry about how you won because it was unbalanced. Laugh at them. This will only infuriate them more. Most importantly Don't let the enemy get in your head. They are weak, they are timid and cowardly. Never stop killing them, do not stop to chat, do not stop destroying them. The more you do it the less they can do anything about it. Be a merciless killer. 30% of the offense is a mind game. Every time you kill the enemy or destroy something of theirs you are getting into their head.

14. Most people do not think this has an impact but it's simple psychology. Pick a good player name and an intimidating armor. Red is the color of blood, people instinctively relate the color red to blood. They are afraid of it. Don't be afraid to wear your clans tag. Most n00bs will become intimidated by veterans sporting their tags. Most importantly Play with honor and pride. Do not be afraid to represent your clan for the sake of ownage. Even if you lose, be proud that you gave the enemy a run for their money. Take satisfaction in knowing that you made them try. Always learn from your mistakes.
