Tribes on Ubuntu

Post by blankgirl »

I recently introduced a friend to Tribes 1 and she is interested in gaming with me. However, her home pc runs Ubuntu and I haven't the slightest clue how to get 1.41(or anything else for that matter) to run on her machine. Any help would be great, as she wants to start playing a.s.a.p.

Thanks in advance,

Hmm...Linux based software. I'm not familiar with a version of Tribes that will run on that. Anyone have any suggestions?

EDIT: Ok, did some checking, and people are able to run Tribes on a Linux based computer via a Linux plugin called Wine HQ. You can find it here:

https://www.winehq.org/

and the info. that was used to run Tribes on it was here:

I run tribes on my mac too. I had to download Wine as well. I tried to run the most recent Tribes HD v2 on thru wine and i had issues with broken textures and crashes. So i used very simple and basic configs which were built with 1.40 and they ran just fine. Even Groove's 1.40 config ran absolutely fine.

Yes, Wine (Windows Is Not Emulated) should do the trick.
